Rick Stein’s Spain: Win the book
Rick Stein has been busy exploring the best of Spanish cuisine in his latest BBC 2 series – and Vida London has two copies of his book to give away.
To enter and be in with a chance of winning, just leave a comment below telling me what is your favourite Spanish dish and why?
I’ll choose the best two entries by Friday 19 August.
Important note: offer is only available to UK-based respondents.
Rick Stein’s Spain is the Padstow-based chef’s latest culinary adventure. “I’ve wanted to make a series in Spain for a long time. I love Spanish food and I’ve been going there since I was a young boy – but until quite recently I don’t think people really took the food seriously,” Rick says.
The first episode of Rick Stein’s Spain covered the northern coast while episode two saw Rick delving into the food on offer in the Basque Country and Cataluna. Episode three focused on Valencia and central Spain, while the series finishes on 4 August with a romp through Andalucia.
Rick Stein’s Spain (£25; BBC Books) features 140 recipes inspired by Rick’s travels, along with 100 photos. This giveaway comes courtesy of the fine people at Ebury Publishing/BBC Books!

A Taste of Spain London in Pictures
A Taste of Spain descended on London’s Regent Street last Sunday, bringing food, music and sport to one of the capital’s busiest thoroughfares.
The annual promotional event featured stalls from some of Spain’s autonomous regions, a 2m-wide paella, a sports zone, live music stages and even the World Cup itself.
The Iberian weather didn’t quite find its way to Regent Street; however, this didn’t stop people from queueing round the corner for gazpacho, churros and paella. Well done to the plucky folks who ventured out, including large numbers of London’s Spanish population.
The Spanish regions of Aragón, Andalucía, Valencia, Basque Country, Segovia and Navarra were all in attendance at A Taste of Spain.
A Taste of Spain, which has been running for several years, is backed by the Spanish Tourist Board, the Regent Street Association and the Evening Standard.
A 2m-wide paella was served up twice. Not to be outdone, the Andalucia stand gave out gazpacho soup. Though given the conditions, a warm soup might have been better…
The shops all along Regent Street joined in the fun, offering complimentary refreshments, prize draws, free dance lessons, special offers and even – at L’Occitane – a free hand massage. Not sure how ‘Spanish’ that last one was.
Oddly, Spanish high street mainstays Zara and Desigual seemed a little oblivious to the festival outside, with nary a giveaway between them.
Live bands on the MTV-backed main stage included Nena Daconte (above).
All in all, A Taste of Spain put on a pretty good show, despite the conditions. Although it would have been nice to see some London-based Spanish establishments getting involved. Maybe there will be space for the likes of Brindisa, Flavours of Spain, Iberica or Barrafina to put out a stall next year?
